HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Council, reviewed the work done by two advisory councils, the Publishing Advisory Council and the Content Creation Advisory Council, to develop strategies to enhance quality in the various sectors of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) including its broadcast, print, and digital platforms, which together form an integrated media system.
“Today’s media excellence has set new standards and taking them into account we must be active participants in making them. Having a strong and competitive media is vital to enhancing Dubai’s global leadership in various spheres. Media excellence is being constantly redefined with the industry’s constant evolution. In the modern age of metaverse and the Internet of Things (IoT), we need to be proactive and innovative in driving quality benchmarks,” adds HH Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum.
For her part, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of Dubai Media Council says, “With the UAE taking giant strides in achieving its ambitious development goals, it is crucial to develop the capabilities of all sectors in line with the futuristic vision of our leadership. As media is a vital player in the transformation of the global economy, we need to ensure that the local sector has the necessary human resource skills to embrace the rapid change. Our focus is on developing high-quality creative content and using the latest in technology to ensure that we have a great impact on our audiences.”
She adds, “The council has a great responsibility as a partner in enabling the media to have the highest levels of competitiveness. We have clear targets formulated within the framework of the comprehensive strategic plan to develop the media sector and boost its efficiency. We are committed in our work to consolidate Dubai’s status as a global hub for media content.”
Salem Butti Belyouha, Chairman of the Publishing Advisory Council, gave a presentation of a comprehensive evaluation of DMI’s publishing sector. The evaluation identified the strengths of the sector and the opportunities in line with Dubai Media Council’s overall strategy.
“In line with our leadership’s directives, the Publishing Advisory Council places the highest priority on encouraging young Emirati talent to enter the media field. For this we are creating several programmes to develop the competencies of national talent to support Dubai’s ambitious growth plans for the media sector,” elaborates Belyouha.
Mahmoud Al Rasheed, Vice-Chairman of the Content Creation Advisory Council presented the results of an assessment of the content delivered through various channels of DMI. “Under the directives of Dubai Media Council, the Content Creation Advisory Council is working to develop a clear strategy to ensure that the quality of content produced in Dubai is on par with the high global standards the UAE is known for. We seek to convey a compelling picture of Dubai and the UAE’s achievements and rapid progress across sectors by developing exceptional content.”
The meeting, attended by several prominent members of the Dubai Media Council, also reviewed proposals to encourage contribution by Emiratis in boosting media growth, as well as initiatives to identify, attract, and develop national talent.
