Canon ME Launches Carbon Neutral Papers for AECM Industries

Imaging solutions giant Canon has launched the first cradle-to-customer carbon neutral, technical wide format papers for the Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and Manufacturing (AECM) industries.

Both products – Red Label Zero FSC and Recycled White Zero FSC – are FSC certified and 100% carbon neutral. Both are also EU Ecolabel certified, which means that they have guaranteed, independently-verified, low environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle.

Weighing just 75gsm, the Red Label Zero FSC is lightweight and is available in 30 varieties, including in ISO (DIN) and ANI sizes and widths ranging from 210mm to 1067mm, coming in 175m or 200m roll lengths. To cut back on packaging and reduce waste, customers also have the option to have it delivered unboxed, when ordering a pallet.

The slightly heavier 80gsm Recycled White Zero FSC is an ideal choice for sustainably conscious organisations as it is made from 100% recycled paper. The product is available in widths ranging from 297mm to 914mm in a 150m roll length.

Both papers provide the AECM industries – amongst the largest industries on the global economic scale – a versatile option, as they are not only compatible with Canon’s ColorWave, PlotWave, and imagePROGRAF series of printers, but also with other available printer brands in the market.

To ensure the sustainability of the papers, Canon partners only with suppliers who meet the highest standards of responsibility, as demonstrated by their Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. To minimize carbon footprint, Canon has revved up its production processes and have cut down on transportation in the overall supply chain from paper mills to resellers and end-customers. The remaining carbon emissions in the process are offset against recognized compensation programmes through ClimatePartner that works globally on carbon emission reduction projects, such as hydropower and wind energy projects.

Shadi Bakhour, B2B Business Unit Director at Canon Middle East, says, “At Canon, we’re taking sustainability seriously across all our product portfolios to reduce our carbon footprint and also to help our customers lessen their impact on the environment, which is why we’re excited to launch the first cradle-to-customer, carbon neutral, technical wide format papers for the AECM market. Partnering again with ClimatePartner has enabled us to extend our carbon neutral range of papers, while supporting sustainable climate projects to offset emissions and providing our wide format customers with a cleaner, greener option that aligns with our sustainability goals.”
