Egypt’s imports of newsprint recorded a remarkable increase over the past months, jumping to 391.6 million dollars during the first 11 months of 2020, which compared to 376.7 million dollars during the corresponding months of the previous year, shows an increase of 15 million dollars, says the latest report published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
Based on the report the monthly newsprint imported amounts to 29.2 million dollars last November, compared to 31.8 million dollars during the same month of the previous year.
Meanwhile Egypt’s total exports to the other countries reached 24.6 billion dollars during the period between January and November 2020, compared to 27.7 billion dollars during the same period of the previous year, and its imports from world countries decreased by 69.8 billion dollars to 63.2 billion dollars during the same period of the previous year.
In value terms, newsprint exports soared in 2020. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. Exports reached the peak figure in 2007; however, from 2008 to 20120, exports failed to regain the momentum.
