Lithotype Company has announced that it has successfully commissioned the first Contiweb Thallo press in North America. Established in 1963, Lithotype continues to invest in the latest technology to maintain their leadership position in print quality and quick turnaround times.
According to Bob Shoreen, Senior Vice President, “Growing SKU counts and increasing graphics demands coupled with shorter lead times are increasingly becoming the norm in the markets we serve. The Thallo will provide our customers with exceptionally high print quality in combination with ultra-fast make-readies by utilizing a cost-effective sleeve-based web offset system. The Thallo now makes it possible for us to set up jobs in a matter of minutes and the system’s many waste-reducing features deliver an unmatched solution for both short and long run packaging jobs.”
The new press is also equipped with environmentally friendly electron beam curing technology which greatly reduces the consumption of natural gas and VOCs used in the production process. EB inks are 100% solid which reduce VOCs to nearly zero.
With packaging producers under intensifying pressure to cut costs, reduce turn-around times and achieve higher print quality, web offset is often a better alternative to the flexo and rotogravure process currently used by many packaging converters. The Contiweb Thallo web offset system is a robust and economical solution for shorter run lengths, giving packaging manufacturers high flexibility and increased productivity while maintaining excellent print quality.
Contiweb Thallo web offset systems are produced and distributed under a strategic partnership between Contiweb and DG press. Contiweb will be exhibiting at INFOFLEX (May 7-8, Indianapolis), the dedicated showcase for package printing and converting technologies. Visitors can learn more about the Contiweb Thallo at stand #713.
