A recently realeased newspaper advertisement by Fire Boltt, one of India’s leading brand in audio and wearable segment, featuring ace cricketer Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador, left netizens in splits.
The smartwatch ad displays a 10.01 kilometer distance covered in an ordinary 02.02 hour time. Seems realistic! But the bizarre display of 800 bpm made netizens trash the staistics. Infact the response was so overwhelming, that the advertisement soon turned into a popular troll, becoming a laughing stock on social media platforms.
While the average heart rate for adults range between 60-100 bpm, the visual ad display of a physiologically impossible heart rate of 800 bpm left the Twitterati in a state of shock! One tweet says, “What are you measuring? Heart or Engine rpm?” Another one ends with two crying emojis, “@fireboltt_you guys are running a front page ad calling yourselves the country’s top wearable watch brand and the product you have on display which shows a bpm of 800? Come on man! It has @imVkohli also.” A LinkedIn user comments, “This is one of the most hilarious positioning I have come across in a long-long time. The most expensive newspaper ad placement, the most expensive brand endorser, and the dumbest messaging – what a recipe for comedy.”
Meanwhile, a recent report by the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) India Monthly Wearable Device Tracker puts the company Fire Boltt in the list of top 5 wearable companies with a market share of 6.6%, owing to its 1522.2% year-over-year (YoY) unit change.
