With Tunisia chosen as the guest of honour nation at the Riyadh International Book Fair, patrons are roaming through ancient Tunisian culture, thought, and heritage, in addition to the participation of around 17 Tunisian publishers who are a permanent part of the Saudi book fair scene.
The latest edition of the 10-day exhibition, which kicked off on 29 September and will continue until 8 October, 2022, is a cultural bridge recognising the joint efforts being made between the two countries to promote cultural cooperation. Since the first hours of its launch, a wide audience received the lively cultural discussions between the two countries.
The Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission, the organizers of the event, revealed the dates and timings of the various cultural and literary programmes attended by more than a thousand Arab and foreign publishing houses, while allocating a wide space for a group of intellectuals, writers, and poets from Tunisia to participate in a range of seminars, lectures, and workshops that deals with all areas of cultural creativity.
The Tunisian participation in RIBF, which includes a number of enriching seminars, began with a Tunisian architecture session which shed light on the significant architectural and cultural legacy left behind by centuries of civilizations in Tunisia, giving it a global heritage value.
A number of meetings discussing Tunisian novels, issues of translation, and the experience of Tunisian theatre; workshops; and literary and poetry evenings presented by a group of Nabati and al-Fasih poets are all part of the 10-day literary carnival.
Prominent singer, songwriter, and musician Ziad Gharsa will present musical nights in addition to playing musical instruments including the oud, the bass violin, the piano, and others. This will be followed by a Tunisian night party hosted at Princess Noura University’s impressive Al Ahmar Theatre featuring Tunisian singers Latifa, Olfa Ben Romdhane, and Saber Rebai, as part of the activities of RIBF.
