The 3rd edition of plastprintpack West Africa will return to Parc de Expositions in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 8–10 October 2026. The biennial event will highlight an unprecedented investment boom in the regional plastics, printing, and packaging industries.
Organised by fairtrade Messe, the flagship international trade show serves as a critical commercial nexus, drawing global participation with confirmed delegations and exhibitors from industrial powerhouses including China, Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, Slovenia, Taiwan, and the UAE, besides the host nation. Official groups from China, India, Italy, and Taiwan will also be present.
The 2026 edition is set to drive targeted business discussions while expanding its international reach. The upcoming event features strong government and industry support, securing active involvement from key Ivorian and international ministries, authorities, and associations to provide a comprehensive industry perspective. Global exhibitors will participate to present tailored products and solutions specifically designed for the West African markets.
Building on the success of the 2024 conference—which hosted 12 sessions and 50 speakers—the 2026 programme promises enhanced industry insights and exceptional networking opportunities for all attendees.
plastprintpack West Africa will take place in conjunction with agrofood West Africa and Afrik’Embal, spotlighting the region’s thriving industry. agrofood West Africa, also in its third edition, is an international trade show for the agriculture, food processing and packaging, ingredients, food, and hospitality sectors. Afrik’Embal, the packaging and handling exhibition, is organised by fairtrade in partnership with the Association of Packaging Professionals of Côte d’Ivoire (APECI).
Booming West African PlastPrintPack Sectors
The Ivorian and West African plastics, printing, and packaging sectors are experiencing substantial growth, carving out lucrative opportunities for international trade and investment. In Côte d’Ivoire, imports of plastic raw materials rose by 8% annually from 245 kt in 2018 to 388 kt in 2024, with total plastic consumption projected to reach 498 kt by 2029. Ivorian imports of plastics technology more than doubled, positioning the nation as West Africa’s second largest investor in plastics technology behind Nigeria.
Parallel advancements in packaging, printing, and paper technologies further underscore the region’s manufacturing modernisation. In 2024, West African packaging technology imports reached €297 million, with Côte d’Ivoire accounting for €24 million of the total share alongside other leading regional peers Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Togo.
Concurrently the printing and paper processing technology segment recorded imports of €89 million, with Côte d’Ivoire contributing €13 million.
As industrial buyers across the region scale up their procurement, the robust growth across these interconnected sectors highlights West Africa’s evolving status as a prime hub for industrial manufacturing partnerships.
