Oman’s leading packaging solutions provider Apex Business Trading (Apex Packaging) opened a new plant in Samail Industrial City. The opening was held under the patronage of Halima bint Rashid Al-Zari, Chairperson of SME Development Authority, in the presence of Dawood bin Salim Al Hadabi, CEO, Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).
Ibrahim Murad Al-Baloushi, General Manager, Apex Business Trading, says, “Established in 2021 with funding and support from SME Development Authority, the new factory plays a key role in meeting market demands for cardboard cartons and other innovative packaging materials and products. It has also gained increasing popularity as a major manufacturing unit of high-value and competitive products in both local and international markets, with its ability to produce bespoke products on demand.”
The company’s innovative and competitive new products using high-quality corrugated boxes include made-to-order exhibition booths and kiosks, furnishings of various kinds, materials for professional product display and promotion, and billboards. “The products stand out for their cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness, with their full recyclability reflecting the company’s strong commitment to the environment,” adds Al-Baloushi.
Madayn has divided Samail Industrial City into several sectors, among which an area of 39,000 sq m is set aside for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a current occupancy rate of 34% for the sector. The industrial city has a total number of 156 localized projects with an investment amounting to $390 million.
Several key investment opportunities in Samail Industrial City have also undergone preliminary feasibility studies. These include diverse sectors such as breakfast cereal production, copper bars and sheets manufacturing, dairy and juice production, date products manufacturing and packaging, dolomite processing, electrical conductors manufacturing, electrical switch manufacturing, glossy ceramics production, gypsum production, HVAC equipment manufacturing, marble product manufacturing, prefabricated building production, and water leakage prevention solution.
