Oman sent a strong contingent to participate in the inaugural edition of the three-day Saudi Food Show that concluded yesterday at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center (RICEC). An extension of Gulfood, the largest annual food and beverage sourcing event in the world, Saudi Food Show was inaugurated under the patronage of Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The Sultanate represented by Madayn, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, was geared towards generating new business prospects and fostering valuable connections for Omani food and packaging industries by showcasing their products, solutions, and services to key stakeholders and buyers.
Hamood Al Balushi, Madayn’s Deputy Director General, who is committed to promoting Omani products and exploring the untapped markets for these products, spoke on the opening day. “Omani food and packaging companies have shown a genuine willingness to participate in this regional event to showcase the exceptional quality of their products to industry experts attending the show. The exhibition offers an ideal platform to promote high-quality Made in Oman products, which has created an increase in demand in both local and international markets over the past years.”
For Madayn, the Saudi Food Show was an opportunity to introduce its wide range of incentives to draw investors to its ten industrial cities to attract and localize new investments and strengthen the national economy, aligning with the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Besides Madayn and government bodies including the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Authority of Small and Medium Enterprises Development, the Oman pavilion featured several packaging companies, including Majan Glass Company and Pragati Glass that cater to the huge demand for glass containers in Oman’s F&B industry; Al Mudhish, a popular household brand name in Oman that is exported on a large scale to GCC and African markets by Oman Foodstuff Factory, which packages over 150 brands; and Salalah International Plastic Industries (SIPI), a division of Salalah Mills Company, which manufactures and exports packaging solutions including various types of PP woven sacks.
Saudi Food Show is a comprehensive trade show focusing primarily on the Saudi F&B industry, and also serving as a platform for thousands of F&B brands from all around the world who want to show their range of innovative products to a large number of industry professionals, distributors, and buyers. The inaugural event also included ministerial sessions, workshops, exciting new F&B innovations, live panel discussions with top policymakers and business leaders, and master classes from award-winning chefs. Saudi Food Show was held from 20-22 June, 2023.
