A new security printing project with a total cost of 16 million US$ is up and running in the state of Qatar. The press will be employed to print all documents, cheques and bonds, certificates and property deeds, to ensure that the integrity of security document is not compromised. In addition, it will also print various types of magnetic stripe cards. The project will be supervised by a consultant authorized by global credit card issuers (Visa – Master card) to ensure the implementation of the project is according to required specifications.
The Minister of State for Interior Affairs, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani recently inaugurated the new security printing press building. Government officials, bank officials in the country and MOI Department directors attended the function.
Addressing the function, director of the Logistics Department of the Ministry, Brig. Eng. Abdul Azeez Abdullah Al-Ansari described the security printing press project as a quantum leap from the world of field security to the world of technical security. He added that a number of employees were sent for specialized courses in different countries to hone their skills in this field.
He added that the aim of establishing the printing press is to protect printed materials that need to be secure, whether in the public or private sector.
Brig. Abdul Azeez Al-Ansari thanked His Excellency the Minister of State for Interior Affairs for his limitless support in achieving one of the goals set for the Qatar National Vision 2030. He placed this project as one of the strategies adopted by the Ministry of Interior to produce security publications using the finest techniques to get the best products at an international standard.
Subsequently, HE the Minister inaugurated the printing press. The head of Police Press Maj. Faisal Al-Ansari, explained about the printing press, its potential and work mechanism. He added that Security Printing Press takes into account the highest levels of safety and security standards and preservation of the environment and health of employees through the use of the latest technologies in this area. At the end of the ceremony, the Minister honoured all those who have contributed in the successful launching of the project.
