After three productive days of sourcing and intense business networking, Media Expo Mumbai came to a resounding conclusion on 4 March, 2023. Held from 2-4 March, 2023, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in India’s financial capital, Mumbai, Media Expo celebrated its golden jubilee edition and the completion of 20 glorious years of the industry’s favourite show on indoor and outdoor advertising, media printing, and signage solutions.
The business platform brought together leading global brands and creative professionals who converged to discover path-breaking future technologies in advertising, media printing, and signage.
The key business event was inaugurated by prominent names from the industry including Raj Manek, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd.; Winston Pereira, General Manager, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd.; Devang Sheth, Secretary, Screenprinting & Graphics Association of India (SGAI); Rohit Yajnik, Head – Non Fare Revenue and Branding, Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd.; and Junaid Shaikh, Managing Director, RoshanSpace Brandcom Pvt. Ltd.
Addressing the gathering at the show, Raj Manek says, “For the past 20 years, the exhibition has been providing an opportunity for people who are at the cutting edge of machinery to bring their imagination to reality. Over 180 exhibitors showcased over 250 products during the three-day event organized by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt. Ltd. The event featured a powerhouse display of technologically advanced products across diversified segments including digital signage, printing technology, signage solutions, retail displays, finishing and fabricating technology, and consumables and media. The 50th edition also featured Screen Print India – Industrial, a dedicated zone on the floor showcasing the industrial screen printing segment encompassing a variety of functional applications.
Visitors at the trade fair had first-hand experience with several new products and software launches, including HP’s roll-to-roll wide format Latex 2700 printer with on-demand, zero-waste white ink; the EFI VUTEk Pro 30h 3.2m wide-format hybrid printer; Pune-based signage specialist Cosign’s and Canadian software company SignAgent’s collaborative cloud-based, all-in-one wayfinding and signage project management platform; and Mumbai-based Canopus Imaging Systems’ new 3.2m solvent/eco solvent Cygnus high-speed industrial printer. Other prominent exhibitors included companies such as Epson India, Gildo Profilati, HariOm Technologies, Keetronics India, Kunal Enterprise, Mimaki India, San Printech, and TechNova Imaging Systems.
Engaging industry seminars and workshops were conducted by eminent speakers on topics such as colour management and the future of industrial screen printing in India. On the opening day, industry leaders de-mystified the enigma of colour management in achieving vivid and accurate colour reproductions in print, while day two explored advancements, new avenues, and opportunities in the growing industrial screen printing segment in making applications for large-scale manufacturing and functional processes even more favourable.
Another concurrent event held during the milestone 50th edition was the launch edition of the Industrial Print Excellence (IPE) Awards 2023. Highlighting benchmarks being created in functional screen printing applications, IPE Awards 2023, announced jointly by Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India and SGAI, saw 24 awards across 14 categories including Automotive Applications, Printed Electronics, Doming Application, Ceramic Tile Decoration, Solar Cell Application, Packaging & Labelling, Containers / Round Screen Printing, Value Addition (Packaging / Commercial), Special Category (Security Printing / Smart/Credit Cards), Industrial Printing Jobs not specified in the previous categories, and Educational Project by Students.
