Ayman Aly, the Senior Marketing Manager ay Canon Middle East, speaks about the company’s plans for SGI Dubai 2019
How many years have you participated at SGI?
Canon Middle East has participated at SGI for nine years.
What is the importance of an event like SGI for the regional industry?
SGI successfully brings together sign-makers, print and production companies, media agencies, and brand and image consultants, among others, to present the potential of new technologies and innovations. In this rapidly-growing industry, businesses are struggling to keep pace with evolving customer demands. With the increasing demand for innovative printing solutions and the poised growth for alternative and personalized interior design, there are numerous opportunities available to Print Service Providers (PSPs) looking to evolve.
An industry event of this scale, attracting players in the industry from across the region, is important to the regional industry as it aims to help signage and graphics businesses seeking profitable expansion through the presentation of the breadth of possibilities that can be achieved with the latest innovations in indoor and outdoor applications.
What will be the theme of your participation at SGI this year?
Signage and graphics producers come to SGI looking for ways to expand their capabilities and differentiate their offering. This aligns with our own philosophy of helping print service providers evolve and grow through new applications and by exploring new models to meet their customers’ needs. At the show we seek to introduce print service providers to the capabilities of our technology portfolio, provide them with deep insight into the key trends shaping specialist sectors of the wide format market, and enable them to access new revenue opportunities and drive their business forward.
Do you plan to showcase any new products or solutions at the event this year?
At the event, we will show how our end-to-end wide format production solutions empower graphics producers to pursue new growth opportunities, either by diversification into new application areas or by optimizing production of their established portfolio. Visitors will discover our wide range of indoor and outdoor signage applications as well as our wide format solutions and services offered through Canon partners across the region. In addition, we will also be demonstrating other products related to signage applications including large format printers, flatbed printers and roll-to-roll solutions.
We will also be unveiling the new imagePROGRAF TM Series of large format inkjet printers for customers producing CAD, GIS and poster applications. The new printers are built on the proven technology of the large format imagePROGRAF TX Series, which has been very successful in the market since its commercial launch in December 2017.
The imagePROGRAF TM Series boasts Canon’s LUCIA TD 5-colour pigment inks which includes MBK with high surface tension, produces lines and text that are dense and crisp with minimal feathering. Vibrant colours can also be produced from LUCIA TD ink with pigments staying closer to the media surface enabling customers to economically print high quality documents and posters on inexpensive uncoated plain paper. The LUCIA TD water resistant 5-colour pigment inks can also print on water resistant media, offering immediate benefits for customers producing plans and drawings that need to be viewed outside, or creating posters for outdoor use.
