The African Packaging Organisation (APO) and the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) will jointly host a pan-African webinar titled ‘Collaborating for a Sustainable, Innovative and Competitive Packaging Future in Africa’ on 29 October 2026 at 10 AM GMT.
Under the banner ‘Together for a sustainable Africa’, the online session will bring together leading industry figures, trade experts, and policymakers from across the continent via Zoom to discuss key advancements and frameworks shaping the continent’s packaging sector.
The programme features a detailed multi-session agenda moderated by communications and PR strategist Oluwatosin Dorcas Ojebisi. Proceedings will commence with an opening plenary and institutional welcome address delivered by Ambassador Ahmed Alex Omah, President of APO and Global Ambassador of WPO, followed by WPO President Luciana Pellegrino delivering the keynote address.
The first session ‘Packaging Innovation, Technology and Emerging Trends: The Present and Future of Global Flexible Packaging’ will be presented by Joe Foster, Managing Director of True Pack and Fellow of the Australiasian Institute of Packaging (AIP). Foster will share insights into the technologies, innovations, and emerging trends shaping the industry.
The focus will then shift to regulatory and environmental strategies in the second session titled ‘Sustainability, Circular Economy & EPR Frameworks’ led by speaker Dr. Irene Akpeokhai, Principal Consultant at Nirel Green Consulting, London. The briefing aims to provide critical compliance strategies, environmental corporate roadmaps, and actionable guidance for navigating increasingly complex Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks across global markets.
The technical presentations will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, offering an open forum for discussion with all featured speakers.
The virtual event serves as a critical platform for industry players looking to explore future global packaging trends and circular economy solutions tailored specifically to the African market.
