Afro Packaging 2013, one of the major packaging events in the MENA region recently was held at the Cairo international convention center.
Hatem Saleh, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade, Ahmed Deeb Chairman of the General Authority for Exhibitions and International Conferences, and a number of other officials and VIP’s took part in the opening ceremony. More than 150 Egyptian and international packaging, printing and converting companies exhibited at the event.
With 30 participants Turkey had the biggest national pavilion during the event. The Turkish companies put on display a wide range of food processing and packaging production lines. The exhibition also played host to a number of delegations from Arab and African countries.
During the opening ceremony Hatem Saleh said that the exhibition is a real opportunity to find out about the latest trends and technologies in the world of packaging as well as an ideal meeting place where all the people involved in the industry can convene and exchange ideas and points of view.
During the show the local and international exhibitors introduced a range of products and services within the food and beverages, chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, plastics, printing and other industries. According to Saleh the exhibition offered many investment opportunities available in packaging and food industries as well as revealed some of the challenges these industries are facing at the global level.
