UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugurated the new premises of Al Bayan and Emarat Alyoum Newspapers that are located at Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI). He also inaugurated the Mohammed bin Rashid Editorial Room at Albayan newspaper and at Emarat Alyoum newspaper.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler’s Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, the Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) and Managing Director of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) Ahmed Abdullah Al Shaikh, Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman and a number of editors-in-chief of the papers and magazines published by DMI.
Unveiling a commemorative plate of the Mohammed bin Rashid Editorial Room, Sheikh Mohammed toured the first paper-free and printer-free news room in the Middle East that uses a brand new news editing software, which saves two hours of time and ensures smooth flow of news.
While in the Room, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the procedures of publication at Al Bayan by its Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief Dhaen Shaheen.
Sheikh Mohammed and officials accompanying him reviewed old and new camera models used by Al Bayan Newspaper since its inception in 1980, the newly introduced iPad system (dimensions) – a quality electronic system used in designing, installing, configuring and producing the newspaper. He also stopped by the e-screen which displays all stages of printing a newspaper.
At Al Bayan new building’s conference hall, Sheikh Mohammed watched a documentary film showcasing the various stages of the launch of Al Bayan, Emarat Al Youm newspapers, Emirates 24/7 e-newspaper and the newly launched “ARA” magazine.
Dhaen Shaheen recited a poem welcoming Sheikh Mohammed that stressed his support for media, culture and knowledge. At Emarat Al Youm Newspaper’s new building, Sheikh Mohammed toured the various sections of the newspaper, exchanging talk with its Editor-in-Chief Sami Al Reyami who briefed him on the different subjects the newspaper focuses.
Sheikh Mohammed also toured the various offices of ARA Magazine while being briefed by the magazine’s chief editor Ali Shahdour on the different subjects of the magazine.
Concluding his visit, Sheikh Mohammed received a huge electronic photo by Fawwaz Arnaout reflecting the press family’s appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed’s visit before posing for photos with the newspapers’ staff.
Upon leaving the premises, Sheikh Mohammed expressed happiness over meeting the DMI family and closely familiarizing himself with the nature of the journalistic work and its development.
