The Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTI Park) recently emerged as a hub for a number of international companies and startups specialized in 3D printing including American multinational conglomerate General Electric (GE) and 3DTIV Tech. With this, the incubator of futuristic technologies is set to become the region’s largest and most advanced 3D printing technology platform.
Modest Company, which has been providing a range of products and services to businesses in the MENA region, has clients in the oil & gas and construction industries. The Dubai-based company specializes in the construction of high specification prefabricated units and mobile cabins used for camps, portable offices, large accommodation and operating facilities, as well as providing turnkey solutions for military forces.
In partnership with China-based global polymer and metal additive solutions provider Farsoon Technologies, their new additive manufacturing division 3DTIV Tech strategically targets many industries using Farsoon’s Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM) equipment which provides solutions to many challenges faced by traditional manufacturing processes with state-of-the-art 3D printing technology.
The SRTI Park works to collect and develop an integrated work system for businesses and industries in Sharjah to promote innovation in a number of sectors that have brought about global changes. Industrial changes and modern production methods are among the most important technological transformations that the modern world is witnessing.
CEO of SRTI Park Hussain Al Mahmoudi says, “3D printing is a priority area in our investment plan for 2023 as we see great potential for transforming the manufacturing sector through this technology. Integrating 3D printing into production processes reduces costs and eases logistical challenges related to shipping and product scarcity as the required parts can be printed immediately.”

Leading the go-ahead companies is SRTI Park’s Sharjah Open Innovation Lab (SoiLAB), a state-of-the-art collaborative workspace for creative product design, development, and prototyping in Sharjah, and the Middle East Center for Additive Manufacturing, which was launched to bring the UAE closer to its goal of becoming a global hub in additive manufacturing.
Al Mahmoudi also invited many businesses from and outside the UAE to set business in the SRTI Park and experience the huge transformation in the global additive manufacturing market, and as investors, to enjoy the benefits of the tripartite cooperation between government and private entities and academia.
The SRTI Park also trains UAE nationals with modern skillsets in additive manufacturing in various applications as a pathway of keeping pace with the increasing demand for 3D technology.
