Deputy Prime Minister in the caretaker government, the Chairman of the Supreme National Emergency Committee, Dr. Salem Al-Khanbashi, and the Governor of Hadramawt, Faraj Al-Bahsani, recently kickstarted the first phase of the project for rebuilding of the Bakathir Printing Press.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bakathir Foundation, Eng. Khamis Baftaim, is upbeat about the rebuilding and overhauling of the equipment which was damaged by the act of sabotage in 2015.
The first phase includes complete repair and overhauling of three web presses to print the official November 30th weekly newspaper. Estimated repair cost is around $ 297,000. During The second phase commercial sheetfed presses will be restored.
Eng. Khamis Baftaim thanked the Governor of Al-Bahsani for allocating budget to the tune of 550 thousand dollars for the maintenance and restoration projects during first and second phase.
Faraj Al-Bahsani expressed his appreciation for all the efforts made by the local authorities in the governorate in restoring the print house and its equipment. After the completion of the project the newspaper will be published again from its headquarter in the city of Mukalla.
