Recently Masterlitho in San Jose, Costa Rica, expanded its digital printing section with the installation of two POLAR machines. Luis Fernando Leal, president of Masterlitho, decided for a hydraulic cutter D 56 ECO and a Digicut ECO for digital cutting. The Digicut ECO is the first laser cutter of its kind in Central America.
In 2014 Luis Fernando Leal, president of Masterlitho, started into digital printing with the investment in a digital printing press. With this step the business developed very fast and Mr. Leal decided to expand this area with dedicated equipment, a POLAR cutter D 56 ECO and a laser cutter Digicut ECO. During the equipment evaluation he saw the laser cutter and has been fascinated by the possibilities.
“With the new POLAR Digicut ECO I can offer a wide range of finishing possibilities. The innovative laser technology opens up numerous possibilities to give creative ideas the right shape. And this applies for paper and many different materials, like wood, acrylic and glass“, explains Mr. Leal his motivation for this investment. The laser enables the most intricate contours to be not only cut, but also perforated, grooved, engraved and kiss cut – all in a single pass. As a result, batches from one single copy to several hundred can be produced very economically. That makes the Digicut so exciting.
The D 56 ECO is the sturdy, programmable cutter with hydraulic drive. The operation of the machine is done via an ergonomically positioned control panel with 5.5’’ monochrome display. Recurring cutting sequences can be memorized (memory capacity 198 programs) and adapted at any time. The precise and gentle swing cut is carried out hydraulically. Knife change can be performed easily with automatic interruption in the lower dead end and knife fine adjustment from the front. Greatest cutting accuracy is ensured by the optimized machine frame.
