The trade show booth of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has won the “Red Dot award: communication design 2012” presented by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia Design Center). This year, the international panel of judges assessed 6,823 entries from 43 countries in a total of 21 categories. Heidelberg and its design agency partner KMS BLACKBOX from Munich won the award in the “Event Design – Trade Fairs” category.
At this year’s drupa, which took place from May 3 to 16, 2012 in Düsseldorf, Heidelberg showcased integrated solutions for commercial and packaging printing. Its presentation under the banner “Discover HEI” covered an area of around 6,300 m² in Hall 1. The booth concept incorporated two key elements of the print media industry – printing plates and type – which also helped people, find their way around. According to the company, visitors to the booth loved the new yet familiar surroundings and experiences. Heidelberg said in a statement that the more than 3,000 printing plates that made up the presentation were already imaged and, as such, reflected the strategy of sustainability adopted by Heidelberg. The entire booth had a neutral carbon footprint. “We are delighted the trade show design devised by our professional and creative partner KMS BLACKBOX proved such a hit with our target groups. Winning the red dot design award is a great honour for us and an incentive to continue focusing on outstanding customer communication,” says Adriana Nuneva, Head of Global Marketing & Communications.
The red dot design award is an international quality hallmark that has been presented since 1955. This year’s presentation ceremony will take place in Berlin on October 24, 2012 and will coincide with the opening of the special exhibition “Design on stage – winner’s red dot award: communication design 2012”.
