Emirates Biotech Debuts Embio PLA Portfolio in Saudi Market

Emirates Biotech, a biopolymers industry innovator, has officially introduced its innovative Embio PLA biopolymer portfolio to the Saudi Arabian market at the Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2026 in Riyadh. Operating from the UAE Pavilion during the four-day event, which runs from 21–24 June, the Dubai-based company aims to showcase its wide range of applications and sustainability benefits to trade show visitors.

The plant-based biopolymers are used in a wide range of applications such as packaging, food service wares, consumer goods, 3D printing, and other everyday products. Embio PLA grades combine high clarity, strength, and processability with a substantially lower carbon footprint than traditional plastics. The material can be recycled or industrially composted, and does not leave behind persistent microplastics in the environment, supporting waste reduction and circularity goals.

François de Bie, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Emirates Biotech, says the event is an important opportunity to connect with Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving plastics and sustainability landscape. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an exciting and fast-growing market for sustainable materials. Biopolymers like PLA provide the Kingdom with opportunities to realise its Vision 2030 sustainability goals; PLA supports the transition towards more circular and responsible material solutions.”

Visitors to the Emirates Biotech stand (2-142) can meet the company’s regional sales team and learn more about the Embio PLA product range and its commercial availability across the Middle East.

Hashim Alfulful, Sales Development Manager – Bioplastics & Sustainable Materials (GCC), says, “Having a dedicated presence in Saudi Arabia allows us to work closely with customers and support them in evaluating and implementing PLA solutions. We look forward to building strong partnerships as the market continues to demand more sustainable materials.”

Launched in November 2025, the new line of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymers align with the UAE’s sustainability goals, including its national commitment to Net Zero 2050. By combining regional manufacturing, material innovation, technical expertise, and hands-on customer-focused service, Emirates Biotech is accelerating the transition to a circular, biobased society.
