Engineer Nadim Elias, Chairman of the Egypt’s Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper, Books, Literary and Artistic works, calls on government to relieve from tax graphic arts equipment and products. The custom duties and sales tax now are estimated to be around 14%. Tax exemption helps Egyptian exporters increase their exports by 100%.
The Chairman of the Export Council for Printing and Packaging said that e interest rates should be reduced from 8 to 5% to support the national industry, and its ability to develop further and increase its productivity during the current Coronavirus.
Egypt’s paper products exports amounted to 509 million dollars until November 2020, a slight decline of 8% compared to the same period in 2019, which recorded 549 million dollars. Top 10 importers of Egyptian paper products are Britain, Northern Ireland, Kenya, KSA, US, Sudan, Italy, Libya, Morocco and Lebanon. With exports valued at 54 million dollars Britain and are top importers of Egyptian printing, packaging and paper products. KSA with US 41 million dollar ranked third while Sudan, USA, Libya, Italy Morocco and Lebanon are next in the list.
