Ahmed Jaber, Chairman of the Chamber of Printing & Packaging Industries of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), expects an increase in the price of paper and packaging materials by 10 to 15% after a decision taken by Egypt’s fuel pricing committee to raise the prices of gasoline and diesel.
He added that the impact of the current fuel price hike is such that it would percolate into the prices of other goods by way of transportation, logistics, and freight costs, which includes a rise in packaging and paper prices and an increase in food prices in the market.
Jaber pointed out that the fuel pricing committee decided to fix the price of a ton of diesel for the food industry but simply ignored major related segments, including the packaging industry.
