Egypt’s Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper, Literary and Artistic Works announced the participation of 12 Egyptian companies in Propak West Africa 2022, the region’s biggest exhibition and conference to be held from November 22-24, 2022, in Lagos, Nigeria.
In a recent statement, the export council said that Egypt’s participation in Propak West Africa 2022 will be launched in partnership with Egypt’s leading event business company Expo Consult in coordination with the Egypt Expo & Convention Authority (EECA), as part of a bigger plan to promote Egypt’s exports to other African countries.
The council pointed out that this biggest of international exhibitions in West Africa in the packaging, plastics, printing, and food-processing industries opens new corridors for the 12 participating companies to learn about the needs of African markets and to agree on foreign export contracts.
Incidentally, the export council reported an increase in Egypt’s exports for the first five months of 2022 to $512 million as against $344 million in the year-earlier period, with a good performance growth of 49%.
The packaging sector registered a growth by 38% during the first five months this year, with exports recording $264.9 million as compared to $191.2 million during the same period in 2021.
Flexible packaging exports also grew by 38% to $187.2 million as compared to $136.8 million during the year-earlier period.
While corrugated carton exports consolidated a 36% increase, recording $286 million for the first five months of this year, compared to $211 million during the same period last year, carton exports saw a huge growth of $13 million during the same period, as compared to $4 million in the year-earlier period.
