Sharjah based Classic Printing Press recently took delivery of an all new Heidelberg Suprasetter A 106 CTP system. The new Suprasetter will eventually replace company’s old Suprasetter which was installed 7 years ago. Jithin Rajan, head of operation and son of the owner and founder of the company O V Rajan says they are purely a commercial printer and so far business has been good. “We do lot of short run jobs with offset equipment. The minimum run we do on offset is 200. But now our customers demand even shorter runs so we are thinking of investing in a digital printing solutions. But the fact is the quality of offset is superior to digital. There are still lot of offset printed magazine and books in the market. So offset is here to stay, especially in our region. It is true that the runs are getting shorter but market for offset printed products is huge and will remain so for many years,” opines Jithin Rajan.
According to Jithin the market is unusually slow at this time of year.” Normally this is a calendar season but comparing to past years there is less demand for calendars and printing products this year.”
It seems that the initial euphoria that followed by the world expo announcement has been replaced by the- life- as- usual attitude.
Classis Printing Press is a classic commercial printer equipped with a range of Heidelberg kits including Speedmasters and GTO’s. The company was founded by OV Rajan in 1995 and 52 people are on company’s pay roll at the moment. The company has a list of local loyal clients and the new Suprasetter 106 will help company to churn out plates faster and more efficiently.
