Canon Emirates announced its support to the National Bank of Abu Dhabi’s Sustainability Week by helping the bank’s employees to gain knowledge about the merits of a more responsible stance. The Sustainability Week was held from 7th to 11th October 2012. As part of the program, Canon donated 200 recycled solar-powered calculators to encourage a more sustainable office environment.
During the event, NBAD’s employees took part in a series of event including presentations, workshops, movie screenings and blood donations drives. A EWS-WWF panda mascot visited the place to swap green products for small donations or NBAD stars (reward points).
The “green” calculators contributed by Canon are partly manufactured from recycled Canon material and driven by solar power, making them a sustainability symbol that complements NBAD’s cause.
Shadi Bakhour, General Manager, Canon Emirates, said, “We are proud to be supporting such a great initiative along with our partner EWS-WWF. Sustainability is a core part of everything we do, and we are guided by our corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which inspires us to seek better ways to live and work together with the rest of the community.”
Belinda Scott, Senior Manager, Corporate Sustainability NBAD, said, “This is our first Sustainability Week through which we want to educate ourselves on what we can do and how we should act in order to be a responsible business and employer, as well as help preserve the world’s precious and limited recourses.
