President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Vice President and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and older daughter Leyla Aliyeva participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Quba ABAD Factory for the production of packaging materials.
Rufat Elchiyev, Director of ABAD – a public legal entity that carries out socially-oriented projects in Azerbaijan – gave a broader perspective on the work performed at the factory. The acronym ABAD stands for Aila Biznesina ASAN Dastek, standing for “ASAN Support to Family Business.”
The main purpose is to implement socially-oriented projects with active local participation in the socio-economic life; developing micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurship; raising employment; and supporting competitive family-based businesses in the country.
The ABAD Foundation was established on the basis of the Presidential Decree, dated September 23, 2016. Statistics indicate that over 500 families have received help during the last 10 months, marketing a variety of locally-produced handicrafts, agricultural produces, etc., estimated at a value of 5.5 million manat.
