Abu Dhabi Sets Guinness Record in Marine Transportation

Abu Dhabi-based marine company Al Seer Marine and Abu Dhabi Maritime – a subsidiary of AD Ports Group Maritime & Shipping Cluster – captured a new Guinness World Records title for the largest 3D-printed boat. Crafted from 67% recycled PIPG (post-Industrial PET-G), the 11.98-metre-long and 3.594-metre-wide water taxi not only represents a technological feat in advanced manufacturing, but also a huge step towards sustainable transportation for a greener and more inclusive future.

A harmonious blend of innovation and functionality, the boat accommodates 29 passengers, including the crew, offering dedicated spaces ensuring passengers bicycle and wheelchair accessibility. Abu Dhabi Maritime is planning to use the 3D printed boat within its network in late 2024.

Al Seer Marine Founder & CEO Guy Neivens comments, “This record-breaking achievement is a testament to our shared commitment to pioneering engineering and eco-conscious practices. The collaborative effort has given rise to a new era in maritime transportation, emphasizing sustainability and inclusivity as core principles. This milestone is not just a record-breaking feat; it’s a clarion call to the industry to adopt greener technologies. Together, we’re reshaping the future of transportation, one innovative wave at a time.”

Abu Dhabi Maritime Managing Director Capt. Saif Al Mheiri adds, “Out partnership has given birth to something truly extraordinary. This 3D printed water taxi represents a significant leap forward in sustainable maritime transportation and a unique experience for our customers.”

The new 3D-printed water taxi was unveiled to the public at the recently-concluded Abu Dhabi International Boat Show 2023 (9-12 November, 2023).
